ShowTime annual holiday party launches new traditions
On December 10, the ShowTime membership enjoyed a festive holiday dinner in the Renaissance Ballroom. The attendees gathered for a fine dinner followed by dancing to the music of Dan Reed’s Music – Keeping It Fun. In a special presentation, the Board of Directors introduced a new tradition – The ShowTime Hall of Fame – a perpetual award that honors the star quality service of ShowTime members. The first honorees inducted to the Hall of Fame were Judi Alonzo, John Harguindeguy and Jane Cook.
This year celebrates the tenth year of performing arts in the Renaissance Theatre. Before that, productions were presented in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom; these three honorees were active during the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom days, combining over 42 years of service to ShowTime to date. Judi started directing in 2002 with Pajama Game and has performed in multiple productions and served on ShowTime’s Board of Directors as well. Judi was also a major influence in the design of the Renaissance Theatre which was initially planned as a lecture hall. Her work with the architects and Robson management led to the expanded theater we have today. John Harguindeguy began his ShowTime career in 1999 cast in Fiddler on the Roof and in the Tribute to Andrew Lloyd Weber review, also in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. John has gone on to serve multiple terms as Treasurer on the Board. He has worn many hats, both on stage and off. He has been an actor, singer, producer and assistant director and he continues to manage ShowTime ticket sales. Jane Cook, who is affectionately referred to as “the General” has served as manager of the Back Stage Crew since the theater presented its first production in 2004. Jane hasn’t always been backstage. Her ShowTime career began in 1999 when she appeared in the Fiddler on the Roof review, but she found a special calling backstage managing all the actors, props and sets and keeping all the backstage chaos under control – no small task when you think of 65 performers running around behind the scenes before entering on stage.
Our 2014 Honorees are just a few of the many dedicated PebbleCreekers who have given of their time and creativity over the years to make ShowTime the amazing organization that it is. Therefore, The Hall of Fame will be an annual recognition. Honorees will be recognized on a special plaque that will be on display in the theater lobby at future performances. At PebbleCreek we have a great legacy of talent and commitment that we want to continue to recognize and celebrate.
Congratulations to Judi Alonzo, John Harguindeguy, and Jane Cook. We appreciate all you have done for ShowTime.
