PC Players Brings Agatha Christie’s ‘The Mousetrap’ to PebbleCreek
Carrie Mataraza
Make a note: The Mousetrap will be on stage in our Renaissance Theater Oct. 23 through 26. Rehearsals are underway, directed by Patrice Cole with assistance from Keith Longley, and wow, the fun has begun as the cast works to sort out the characters and bring all the Agatha Christie plot twists and turns to the PC audience.
The Mousetrap began as a 20-minute radio show entitled “The Three Blind Mice” written for England’s Queen Mary for her birthday in 1947. Agatha Christie later expanded the radio play into a full-length stage play, adding some extra characters and more background and plot.
Since its stage debut in October 1952, The Mousetrap has never stopped running except for a 14-month hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. At 72 years old, The Mousetrap is the world’s longest running play, chalking up over 26,000 performances to date and currently booking tickets for fall 2024. Its playwright, Dame Agatha Christie, is the best-selling novelist of all time whose work is outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare.
If you love clever mysteries, social commentary, suspense, and surprises, you don’t need to travel to London for the best of Agatha Christie. You can—you must—get your tickets to the PC Players production. Tickets for The Mousetrap go on sale in September, so stay tuned to the Post, the e-group, and Pebble News for the date ticket sales begin, because this will be a quick sell-out.
PebbleCreek Singers Rehearsals
Diane Piehl
The PebbleCreek Singers are enjoying a summer respite, but rehearsals for the holiday concert are just around the corner. Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 4 with distribution of the music for the concert. The following two rehearsals will be sectionals to begin to familiarize the membership with the holiday selections. Director Jerry Drake and section leaders Nancy Gustafson, Kathy Best, and Bev Griggs are in the process of making selections to be enjoyed by everyone. Who doesn’t love holiday music!
The chorus currently has openings in all voice sections. Reading music is not a requirement. If you can match a pitch, enjoy harmonizing, and love being part of a choral group, you are on your way to becoming a PC Singer. There is an easy audition to determine voice placement. Choral music is provided for each singer from our music library, along with recordings of each individual voice part that are downloaded on your computer so that you can listen as often as needed to learn your notes. If you’re interested in being a part of the chorus, please reach out to Virginia Baker at 623-248-6323 for more details. Be on stage with us for the holiday concert!
In the event you wish to mark your calendars, the concert dates are Dec. 4 through 7.
