‘You Can’t Take It with You’ Comes to PebbleCreek
Laurie Farquhar
After more than two years of gloomy and serious pandemic-related news, are you ready for some upbeat, old-fashioned, family friendly comedy? This October, PC Players is presenting the Pulitzer Prize-winning production, You Can’t Take It with You, and it is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
You Can’t Take It with You is the story of the Vanderhof-Sycamore family that lives in New York City in 1936. All of the characters are colorful and quirky. There is the mother who writes plays simply because someone accidentally delivered a typewriter to the family home. The father builds fireworks in the basement, with the help of the ice man who still lives there eight years later. The oldest daughter makes candies to sell to the neighbors while practicing her ballet routines. And you can’t forget Grandpa who only does things that he enjoys and refuses to pay his income taxes because he doesn’t think the government would know how to use the money.
However, this oddball lifestyle is an embarrassment to the second daughter who has fallen in love with her boss’s son. How is she going to make her eccentric family seem “normal” when she introduces them to her future in-laws?
You Can’t Take It with You runs four nights from Wednesday, Oct. 26 through Saturday, Oct. 29. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 8 a.m., and the price is still only $16.50, which includes all service fees.
So, mark your calendar and get ready to meet the most lovable oddballs to ever grace the Renaissance Theater stage. And you thought some of your family members were a bit unconventional.

All the learning tools are in place as the PC Singers begin preparing and rehearsing for their annual holiday concert, ‘Ring Those Christmas Bells.’ Director Jerry Drake, along with the chorus section leaders, have assembled an entertaining array of holiday music for your listening pleasure.
Regular rehearsals begin Aug. 22 in the theater at 2:30 p.m. The recruiting team, co-chairs Myra Saunders and Virginia Baker, have been busy determining section placement for new singers. Since we recruit throughout the summer, if you have an interest in sharing your voice, please contact either Myra Saunders at 505-320-8085 or Virginia Baker at 623-248-6323 to make arrangements to meet with you. They can send you an application or you can find them across from the Pro Shop at Eagle’s Nest.
