What a way to start the Niners’ golf season with a Kick Up Your Heels theme! This was a sell-out event with 144 golfers eager to get back in the swing with the Lady Niners. Co-Chairs Karen Morgan and Pat Englemann did a wonderful job organizing all aspects of the day. Decorating Committee Co-Chairs Kathy Dolan and Jean Carroll and their committee had the Chianti Room dazzling with centerpieces and favors fashioned with glamorous high-heel shoes. There was even a special shoe shopping event with the latest in Footjoy golf shoe styles presented.
The event started with winners of the Early-Bird registration being announced. After a delicious sandwich buffet the Niners headed out for a fun, but windy, four person scramble. Golfers returned to the Chianti Room after golf for a tasty ice cream sundae bar. Club Pros tallied up the scores and the team winners were announced.
Special Recognition and Remembrance of Former Lady Niners
The PebbleCreek Lady Niners are fortunate to have had many dedicated golfers who struggled in the beginning to get the PCL9GA league started. Through their efforts, the Lady Niners today are able to enjoy a strong and growing league with 260 members. One of these special ladies, Adele Stewart, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. League President Brenda Sand and member Carol Hahn presented Adele with a bouquet and card from the Niners and thanked her for her contribution to the league over the years.
The PCL9GA dedicated the December 8 play date as a Memorial Recognition Event in honor of the deceased PCL9GA members who also contributed to the success of the league. Brief highlights about the various ladies being remembered were prepared and shared with current members, many of whom may not have known these special women.
Holiday Luncheon
The annual Holiday Luncheon was held on December 10. The Lady Niners switched up their golf shirts and shoes for dazzling holiday attire and glittering sandals! Social Committee Co-Chairs Lynn Havens and Jeannie Sherlock and their committees did a fabulous job again creating a Candy Cane Lane extravaganza in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Entertainment was provided by PC resident and well known country singer, Jeff Harrison.

Donation to Fill-a-Need
The Lady Niners were pleased to present a donation of $800 plus several toys to the “Fill-a-Need” program sponsored by the City of Goodyear and coordinated through the Goodyear Fire Department. Firefighters from District 8 Fire House were at the December 8 play date to accept the donation. These donations will be distributed to needy families in the Goodyear area.
