The PC Lady Niners have been playing away games the past few weeks while the PebbleCreek courses were closed for the annual overseeding. It’s fun to visit other clubs and courses but always good to get back to our beautiful PC courses. The Lady Niners offer a big thank you to the course staff and grounds keepers for the stellar job they have done in handling not only the overseeding, but the unprecedented rains over the summer.
Wigwam Outing
One of the favorite away play days was held at the Wigwam on October 7. The Lady Niners donned their pink attire in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. It was a great day of golf and a good time to remember so many fellow PC Lady Niners and other friends and family affected by breast cancer.
Swinging Skirts Kick-Off
Co-Chairs Sue Johnson and Dona Idso are wrapping up the details for the upcoming kick-off themed Swinging Skirts. The theme is in tribute to women who forged their place in the world of golf dating back to the late 1800s and the unbelievably cumbersome skirts and tops they had to wear. Although styles did evolve over the years, women were for the most part still wearing below the knee skirts until the early 1950s. There was much more to the term swinging than just the golf club; it was all those flowing skirts lady golfers had to contend with. Thank goodness for the ladies who preceded us and strove to introduce the very functional, comfortable and attractive golf attire we have today!
The Swinging Skirts Kick-Off will be a Swinging Scramble on November 18. Great Pro Shop gift cards will be awarded for first through fifth places in the scramble plus lots of other fun prizes and gifts!
We invite ladies golfers in PebbleCreek who may be interested in joining the PebbleCreek Lady Niners to please contact club President Karen Morgan at 623-536-1781 or 209-609-5616 or visit the club website at www.PCL9GA.org for membership information and prerequisites.
