“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can,” said Arthur Ashe and that’s how we feel in PebbleCreek. The PebbleCreek Tennis Club is looking for good women and men to join us! We know there are more of you out there that have the desire to play. There are friendly, casual groups and ferocious teams looking for members and subs. Check website and bulletin boards and talk with the Welcoming Committee.
March was a busy month with 28 ladies playing in Chicks With Sticks tennis, not golf, mixer organized by Jill Santy. We also had a late afternoon March Madness mixer and dinner with 38 people attending. Carol McKenna always plans great meals which are appreciated by all who love not cooking at home!
March made us proud when our Hotshots beat the Surprise team after fighting their way up each round and winning with a final score of 6 to 3! Congrats to the guys pictured: Dave Bee, Richard Margison, Randy Planck, Marty Farrell, Jim Lewis, Dan Schmmelpfennig, Dave Henry, Dave Kersey, Craig Hauger and Brian Bostock.
In February the PCTC hosted the Goodyear Park Department and 13 kids teamed up with our members. We also had the Doubles Or Nothing mixed tournament and if you are curious to see who won, the results are on the website and a plaque will be displayed in the Tuscany Center for posterity.
Many thanks to the Goodyear Fire and Paramedics who taught 26 people CPR and how to use the Automatic External Defibrillator/AED. This knowledge was put into use two days later on the court with wonderful results. Both tennis buildings have an AED and if you are unsure of how to use them watch You Tube and become comfortable with it!
Social Events: May 11, Tennis Mixer (for singles, couples, partners, newbies, and veterans) at 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. with pizza and refreshments following.
