It’s getting close to holiday time, and these ladies are working hard making beautiful pieces for the Art Festival on Dec. 2, 2023.
On your left is Sheryl Cohn, who moved to PebbleCreek (PC) in 2020 with her husband Michael. They moved here from Albuquerque, N.M., to be closer to family. They have a total of four grandchildren—two in NYC, and two in Surprise, Ariz. It was Sheryl’s brother who recommended PC to her because of its beauty and community. They always wanted to live in a retirement community, and so far, PC has not disappointed.
Sheryl’s neighbor showed her some of her glass pieces and, thinking she might like this craft, Sheryl took a class off site, then joined the PC Glass Club. After doing several small projects, she fell in love with it and is now addicted to it (which happens to most!). Sheryl also enjoys bocce ball, karate, golf, swimming, and other art forms. She loves being with her wonderful friends here at PC, as well as spending time with her family and grandchildren.
On your right is Sandy Rivera, who was born in New York. She later moved to Chicago, where she went to college to study computer science and met her future husband, Robert Schwartz. Together they have one son who currently lives in San Francisco. No grandchildren just yet! Sandy worked at Motorola and retired after 25 years of service. They moved to PC in February 2019 to get away from the cold Chicago winters and be able to golf year round. Boy, did they come to the right place!
Sandy took a beginners fused glass class in the summer of 2019 and got hooked immediately! Sandy mostly loves working on Southwest pieces. Besides fused glass, Sandy and her husband love to golf and travel, which they now do. Sandy soon found out how easy it is to get involved here at PC, so she jumped right in and is now the current chair for the Art Festival on Dec. 2, which is no easy job!
Both ladies are regulars in the glass studio and create beautiful works of art. Their work can presently be found in the PC art gallery, and they will also be represented in the December Art Festival. Better get there early!
