A dozen newcomers attended the PebbleCreek Democratic Club welcome event.

The PebbleCreek Democratic Club Welcome Committee, the Social Committee, and the Executive Board hosted a Newcomers’ Welcome Gathering at the lovely home of Phyllis and Les Minsuk on Oct. 20. The weather was particularly pleasant and we were lucky to share an afternoon of wine, appetizers, and comradery. Those who entered as newcomers left as friends.
This was the first gathering of the fall season. Another is scheduled for Nov. 17. Twelve new members attended and we anticipate hosting another event in early December. Our club has grown from about 100 members four years ago to 295 members currently.
These smaller, more intimate gatherings introduce our newcomers not only to each other but also to some of our more established members who serve in some official capacity in the club. Any newcomer who was unable to attend Sunday’s gathering, as well as anyone who recently joined, will be invited to the next gathering.
In addition to our Newcomers’ Welcome Gatherings, we have monthly men’s breakfasts, women’s luncheons, and other ad hoc events. For example, on our social calendar is an annual Winter Wonderland dinner with DJ music. A Mardi Gras dinner with DJ is in the works. We also look for interesting events and shows around the valley for our members to participate in. One such upcoming event is at the KAX Lunchtime Theater of the Herberger Theater on Feb. 4, where we will see When Douglas Met Lincoln.
Our general club meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month usually in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom with occasional meetings in the Eagles’ Nest Ballroom. The next club meeting is Dec. 4 and our meetings are open to everyone. The club sponsors a social hour (cash bar) starts at 6 p.m., and the business meeting follows at 7 p.m.
