At the PebbleCreek Democratic Club April meeting, two members of the Transition Team planning the eventual takeover of the HOA by residents treated us to an interesting and thorough presentation about the process of transition. Cathy Lindstrom, a longtime and very active member of our community, and Paul Polk, a newer resident with much experience in the HOA transition process, explained just how complex this procedure is. They answered our many questions, and members left feeling better informed of how this transition will affect all of our lives.
The Democratic Club continues to hold social events, and April was no exception. Nothing says spring like a great picnic. The club held their annual spring picnic at Sunrise Park on April 1.
The sun was shining down on us, but it was not too hot, making it the perfect weather for a picnic. We all gathered under the big shady tree, where the conversation was nonstop. We had interesting conversations with each other, and we laughed and joked around. It was a terrific opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. We also had a chance to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Joe McEnerney made it even more enjoyable by playing music from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, before, during, and after our meal. It was easy to break out singing since most everyone knew the words to various songs.
The food and drinks served at the picnic were amazing. Rudy’s Barbeque catered the food, which offered a broad selection of meats and sides. The menu consisted of pork, brisket, turkey, potato salad, Rudy’s beans, three bean salad, and peach cobbler. Lemonade and tea quenched our thirst.
Cornhole and music trivia were the games of the day. Chuck Veltri led the music trivia questions, which also included audio music to name a song and the artist. The questions were difficult, and all three rounds were competitive. Joe McEnerney and Ross Hart assisted him.
Let me remind you, you do not get old by having fun, you get old by not having fun.
