Following their election by the congregation in January, four new elders joined the PebbleCreek Community Church [PCCC] elder board at its monthly meeting on February 11, 2015. The new elders are Clyde Dowell, Ray Hadden, Hal Merwald and George Thomas. They will serve three year terms, except Dowell is filling an unexpired term for one year.

Addition of these new elders continues a year of change, growth and anticipation for PCCC. Pastor Harry Heinrichs retired in March 2014 which began a transitional period. Guest pastors and an interim pastor conducted the weekly 9:00 a.m. Sunday services in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. The elder board held a retreat in October to chart the future of PCCC. The Congregation selected Pastor Dennis Kizziar as its new shepherd in December 2014. In only the first two months of 2015, the church has increased twice its weekly order for number of chairs to be set up for the service.

The new elders already have areas of responsibility. George Thomas will work with the PCCC deacons. Ray Hadden will work with the PCCC trustees. Clyde Dowell will oversee Christian education. Hal Merwald will be responsible for new church membership. They join continuing elders John Aycock (fellowship and new chair of the board), Ron Glynn (worship), Pastor Dennis Kizziar, Doug McFarland (finance), Dave Modderman (communications) and Bruce Sharp (missions). Leaving the elder board at expiration of their terms were Larry Green and Steve Kirk (past chair).

Continuing in their positions are Secretary Marsha Lyons, Treasurer Syd Mersereau and Director of Music Donna Giocomo.

At the elder retreat in October, the board adopted this mission statement: “PebbleCreek Community Church is a caring, loving church that proclaims the Bible message of the living Christ.” It is nondenominational and indeed the members of the elder board have backgrounds in Baptist, Congregational, Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian churches.

All are welcome to join the service every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Much information, including belief statements, past sermons, fellowship events and mission outreaches, can be found on the PCCC website, www.pebblecreekchurch.org.
