The Art Club is in full swing after the holidays with lots of exciting classes and field trips, and exciting news about the proposed expansion of the Coyote Room. Club president Sylvia Armstrong gave an overview of what the enlarged and renovated space will include. Upgrades include three rows of storage lockers available as rentals for artists, more cabinets and open shelving, new sinks and closets, and an 80-inch TV for online classes and artwork presentations.
Our chosen organization for Art from the Heart this year is Boys and Girls Club of Avondale. Karen Ludwig and Diana Ho are the co-chairs and will accept donations of art supplies, cash, and gift cards at our March 31 meeting.
On Wednesday, March 8, a field trip to the famous ghost town in Jerome, Ariz., is planned with lunch at Haunted Hamburger. On Saturday, April 1, members will travel to Wickenburg to the “Cowgirl Up” exhibit. Both events offer oodles of chances for inspiration and fun.
On Thursday, April 20, the club will celebrate its 30th anniversary at Sunrise Park in PebbleCreek, and a pool party at the Oasis Pool is scheduled for May 12.
There are many exciting and challenging classes and workshops scheduled for the spring, including “Picasso for a Day,” led by one of the club’s favorite instructors, Anthony Galto. He will help artists work in the style of Pablo Picasso.
