Successful Open House Attracts Residents to Learn About and Join the Art Club
Emily Grotta
A lively buzz filled the Coyote Room in the Creative Arts Center on Feb. 8, as residents stopped by to learn about the PebbleCreek Art Club and visit with artists who were working on current paintings and drawings.
“This club is really friendly!” said one visitor as she watched acrylic artists working on landscape paintings. Another, who just moved to PebbleCreek, was excited to be able to pick up a pencil and practice drawing once again.
Membership in the PebbleCreek Art Club is only $25 a year, and entitles members to reduced fees on classes, the opportunity to work in the center with other artists during Open Studio hours, and many other benefits. Members can display and sell their work at two art shows and in the windows and gallery at the Creative Arts Center. They can use the equipment in the Coyote Room and borrow books and videos from our library. There are numerous outings to art-related venues in the Greater Phoenix area, and members gain friends and a sense of camaraderie by joining these field trips, monthly First Friday lunches, monthly mingles, and two pool and barbeque parties.
The Coyote Room is the Art Club’s home in PebbleCreek, where classes and other events are held. Check the calendar at pcartclub.org/calendar to see what is going on. If you’re interested in membership either use the “member sign up” form on the club’s home page or contact the VP For Membership Diana Horton-Smith at [email protected].

March Featured Artist: Sandi Ebeltoft
The PebbleCreek Art Club is proud to name Sandi Ebeltoft as the featured artist for March 2025.
Born in Dallas, Sandi was 12 when her family moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. After high school graduation she married her high school sweetheart, and they moved to Virginia when he enlisted in the Navy. While there, she worked for AT&T and quickly rose to a supervisor position.
Three years later they returned to Tucson. She continued to work for AT&T, had two children, and completed college at the University of Arizona with degrees in nursing and psychology. After graduation she continued her education in psychology and served as a school psychologist in Tucson, Phoenix, Prescott, and California for 25 years. Her husband died of a heart attack in 1998.
In 2001 Sandra met her husband Richard, a professor at the University of Arizona College of Architecture. He retired in 2002, they were married in 2004, and moved to Prescott, Ariz., while also keeping a vacation home in San Marcos, Calif., which had a small art studio.
The Ebeltofts moved to PebbleCreek in 2018, and both joined the PebbleCreek Art Club. At the Creative Arts Center Sandi learned the art of acrylic pouring and finds the abstract and surprising unforeseen nature of pouring a delight. Ultimately they converted a second bedroom in their home to a studio, where both Sandi and Richard create their art.
Sandra’s work will be on display at the Creative Arts Center and at the reception desk in both clubhouses.

Don’t Miss the Meet the Artist Show on March 28
Emily Grotta
Once again, some of your favorite PebbleCreek artists will be at an art show. Join artists on Friday, March 28, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Tuscany Falls Ballroom where you can talk directly with them about their art, their motivations, and their mediums. The Art Club members participating in the show are some of the most seasoned and professional artists who have won numerous awards in previous art shows.
Unlike the fall show, in which artists are limited to three submissions, at the “Meet the Artist Show” the artists will have their own tables to display many of their works. In addition, some of the artists will have prints which can be purchased at a lower cost.
Admission is free, and a cash bar and music will add to your enjoyment.
Sylvia Armstrong, president of the PC Art Club, said last year’s spring “Pop Up-Show” was immensely popular and successful, for both the artists and the visitors. “People enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the artists, to learn about their art journeys and to see a variety of their works,” she said.
