On April 4, the PebbleCreek Billiards Club (PCBC) and CantaMia (CM) faced off in a friendly but competitive billiards showdown, with matches held at both locations.
Canta Mia and PebbleCreek squared off Pebble Creek in a series of 8-ball and 10-ball matches. We played three races to 8 in 8-ball and one race to 10 in 10-ball. PCBC earned the victory in match one by a score of 8-1. Rene Lefebvre was 3-0, Clay Beeson was 2-0 and Bob Macy was 2-0; Marv Schrock went 1-1, and Rene won the deciding match.
The team from CantaMia (Craig Jones, Dennis Kent, Paul Herrmann, and Ted Armstrong) hunkered down in the second match and were victorious with a score of 8-2. Blair Dreyfus joined the PC team mid match but was no help. Clay and Rene were able to earn victories for PebbleCreek. In the third and deciding match PC was victorious by a slim 2–game margin in a hard fought 8-6 match. Clay led the way 3-0 as Blair and Rene went 2-1 in their matches, and Bob split his matches 1-1.
The teams switched over to 10-ball for the fourth series of games and PCBC was victorious by a 10-7 margin. Blair led the way in this match with a 4-1 record, as Rene and Marv both sported records of 3-1. Clay said he was going to practice 10-ball a little more so he could help next time.
Everyone on both sides played well most of the time and everyone enjoyed the growing camaraderie between these two communities. We look forward to playing them again next month on a date not set as of this writing.
Meanwhile, at CantaMia, two additional matches took place. In the first, four players from each club faced off in one-on-one 8-ball games, each playing every opponent twice. The 32-game series saw CantaMia emerge victorious by a score of 19-13. Lynn Warren was PCBC’s standout player as he won six of his eight games.
The second match featured a ranked head-to-head format, pairing players based on number of wins for five games of 8-ball. CM took the win by a score of 12 to 8. Bill Frustaglia was PCBC’s best player here, as he won four of his five games. All players enjoyed themselves and look forward to meeting again next month! In addition to Lynn and Bill, PC was represented by Bill Armbruster and Dan Harris. The CantaMia players who welcomed us were Chris Elliott, Dean Miller, Ken Balog, and Ossie Horne.
