The PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association conducted its inaugural Mid-Winter Classic on January 11 and 12 using all three nine-hole courses at Tuscany Falls. A total of 108 two-man teams competed in this event which incorporated four separate formats. Flights One and Two played Lakes/Falls, Flights Three and Four played Falls/Palms and Flights Five and Six played Palms/Lakes. Based on all the talk, this event was a big hit with the members.
On the first day, the front-nine format was Pinehurst (both players tee off, then switch and play their partner’s ball, then take the best result after the second shot and scramble in from there). The back-nine format was two-man “true” alternate shot (one player tees off their first hole and then alternates with his partner until holed out. After whoever holes out, his partner tees off the following hole).
On the second day, the front-nine format was one-net best-ball of partners. The back-nine format was Shamble with both net scores counting (each player tees off and then they select the best shot and play their own ball in).

Snacks, beer and soda were provided in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom after play. The scoring committee included PCMGA members Ray Catalano, Bob Millikan and Bill Schaffer and golf professional staff Jason Whitehill, Ronnie Decker and Dave Vader. Scoring was a challenge given the fact that four separate formats were played, so many thanks to this group.
Thanks to the Greenskeeping staff for providing great playing conditions.
Prizes were awarded to the top six teams in each flight. Congrats to all the winners!
