Pete Gilbert was quite lucky in 2014. Not only did he make a hole-in-one during the PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association’s Club Championship on February 19, 2014, he was the only member to score the elusive hole-in-one in a PCMGA event held in the 2014 golf season. As a result, Pete was awarded the entire hole-in-one prize in the amount of $2,135.
When PCMGA members renew their membership, $5 is collected from each member who wishes to participate in the hole-in-one fund. The amount collected is then split among all members who score a hole-in-one during a PCMGA event held in that calendar year. Pete scored his hole-in-one early in the year, so he waited anxiously for over 10 months to see if he had to split the prize. Pete finally took a breath when the last 2014 PCMGA event concluded with no other holes-in-one.
Pete has been a PebbleCreek resident for over 10 years and is a former PCMGA president. This was his fourth career hole-in-one. He made it on the eighth hole on the Falls Course at Tuscany Falls. On that day at the Club Championship, the pin was back and the hole played to 185 yards. Pete hit his trusty 4-hybrid using a Titleist Pro V1 ball. Pete made his first hole-in-one in July, 1986, at the Riverside Club in Warren, Minnesota. But Tuscany Falls has been his lucky venue as this was his third one on the Falls Course.
Luck plays a part in scoring a hole-in-one, but it still takes some skill to get the ball close enough to go in.
Congratulations to Pete!
