While not everyone in PebbleCreek golfs on a regular basis, PebbleCreek certainly qualifies as a class golfing community and many members of our four sanctioned golf clubs will do 18 holes several times weekly and even our PCM9GA group is typically is not an exception. That being said, the very next day after participating in our highly successful Summer Survivors Tournament, a number of the same PCM9GA golfers participated in our normal regularly scheduled Thursday tournament event under quite pleasant and almost crisp early morning weather conditions utilizing our Tuscany Palms Course. This time the quite interesting Yellow Ball format was deployed which involved using the net per hole score of each hole from two team members. The catch here, though, is that while one of the scores would invariably be the lowest team member net score, the second score was derived from a designated team member for each hole. That is for example that a specific team member starting on hole one would be the designated yellow ball team member for holes five and nine. Of course, the net scores were based upon the established individual team members AGA handicap and for a high handicap golfer who gets a PAR on a PAR 3 hole, his two stroke credit would net him a virtual hole-in-one.
Not at all surprising is that the winning three foursomes were each separated by a mere one stroke in that the first, second and third place team scores were 62, 63 and 64 respectively. Congratulations to the winners as follows:
First 62 – Bob Brooks, Greg McKenzie, Bob Voccola, Jim Tackett
Second 63 – Gary Gallagher, Al Lowe, Casimir Koziara, Barry Taschner
Third 64 – Monte Page, George Nagy, Ken Laychak, Gil Butson
Closest to the Pin winners were Dick Rippe and Rick Bray.
Our PCM9GA group has experienced a great amount of action this fall season with our four off campus events, an all member semi-annual meeting in November followed by our annual Holiday Party on December 5 and finally the Turf Paradise event on January 19 of the New Year.
The PCM9GA group, now close to 270 members strong, has a truly awesome membership role largely comprised of easy going and fun loving golfers and welcomes new members at all skill levels. For new members the cost will be $50 but will cover all dues for the remainder of 2014 as well as 2015. The standard full year membership renewal dues are $50 which includes fees for the AGA membership which is essential for handicap reporting.
