This year’s club championship within the PCM9GA, the “Golfing Niners” took longer than usual to decide. At the end of the two rounds of play, three members were tied for the overall lead. John Heinz, Steve Rottger and Fred Schmidt all shot the same low gross score so a three-way playoff had to determine not only the overall Club Championship, but also the champions in the various handicapped flights.
Approximately six weeks later, the final results were determined and Fred Schmidt, once again, was crowned the overall Club Champion.
Jack Tulaba won the overall Net Championship with a Net score of 57 (15 under par.)
Winners in the various handicapped flights settled out as follows:
Flight A Winner, 66, Steve Rottger; 2nd, 67, Bill Lansing; 3rd, 67, Al Jerman.
Flight B Winner, 66, Richard Spampinato; 2nd, 67, Tom Johnson; 3rd (tie), 69, Joe Duch and Rob Risden.
Flight C Winner, 60, Bill Gray; 2nd (tie), 65, Ted Hallenback, Richard Schmidt
Flight D Winner, 61, Louis Beaulieu; 2nd, 62, Jim Dickie; 3rd, 63, Mickey Osterneck
