On Thursday, October 12 the PebbleCreek Men’s 9 Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) played its first offsite event of the year. We had 78 players, both members and guests. It was different from the perspective of pairings because normally PCM9GA pairings are done with random selection, but for these offsite events members can make up their own foursomes and include guests in these foursomes.

The Falcon Dunes Course at Luke Air Force Base was in excellent shape and they organized the event beautifully. The carts were all set up and ready to roll at precisely 8:00 a.m. and led out to the holes by their golf professionals. It was so well managed that nearly all foursomes came in at the four hour mark.

It was not a tournament format and foursomes could choose whatever tees they wanted to play from. Most played from the Phantom tees. As we played we were accompanied by the “sound of freedom” of F-16s and F-35s taking off and landing in their training routines.

We had four Closest to the Pin contests on the four par-three holes. The winners were Trevor Ballinger, Bob Clearwater, Jay Ward and Bill Hill.

Some of the best scores were earned by: 80 – Bob Clearwater, Scott Beseda; 81 – Trevor Ballinger, Mike D’Onofrio; 82 – Don Simons and Mike Nadon; 83 – Dick Clarke, Dick Atwater and Jim Mitchell.

In the next three weeks we will be playing at Hillcrest Country Club, Coyote Lakes Country Club and Sun City Golf Club while the PebbleCreek Courses are being overseeded. If interested in playing as a guest, contact any of the club Board Members whose names and contact information are available in the Pro Shops.
