Our PCM9GA group, with our membership role soaring at the 300 plus level, held our first tournament of the New Year on a nippy yet pleasant January 8 afternoon utilizing our Tuscany Lakes and Falls Golf Courses.
Our pairing committee which is never asleep at the wheel with their tournament selection and, this time, simply settled on a still quite intriguing Two Corner Format in which each team member’s individual strokes for each hole were utilized to determine the net score for each hole. However, for holes one and nine, the three lowest team member net scores were utilized to compute the net team score and conversely for hole two through eight the best two team member scores are utilized. Depending upon the prevailing team member AGA handicap, a handicap credit anywhere from zero strokes to two or more stroke credit is applied on select holes. Sure enough, on the par three Lakes Course hole seven, Jack Tulaba’s Birdie became a net zero which equates to a virtual Eagle. Likewise, Bjarne Kaer is to be congratulated for a phenomenal gross 35 on the Lakes Course.
One further interesting variation for this tournament was that our beloved PCM9GA Secretary Bob Caldwell, who absolutely does an awesome job with the Adopt the Hole program and more recently assuming control for the PCM9GA website, expanded our Closest to the Pin Contest with awards for both first and second place.
