PCM9GA January 22 Skin Winners Jim Tackett and Dave Golden
Erv Stein
On Jan. 22, close to 144 PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) golfers participated in a “Skins Within Your Foursome” tournament at our Tuscany Falls East Course under terrific winter afternoon climate conditions. Stories vary as to how the Skin Format actually originated but rumor has it that in Scotland, early golfers bet on their animal pelts on a hole-to-hole or perhaps an entire round basis with the term “skins” as a slang term for dollars. With the approximate total of 36 competing foursome teams, each team member competed for the lowest net score for each hole with the winner of each hole awarded a skin representing a preassigned monetary value. This format proved to generate a considerable amount of competitive excitement with a large number of golfers winning one or more skins with so many opportunities for winning, since each golfer had nine chances to win at least one skin. Since the net scores for each player were based upon their prevailing individual AGA handicaps, kudos to a number of players who scored net Eagles. Further noteworthy, Bruce Robinson netted a Double Eagle on hole number 10: Bruce Robinson, Sandro Desimone, Phil Stregman, Jim Tackett, Ron Viano, Lloyd Abrahams, Michael Davis, Todd Schneiter, Bill Davis, and Mike Branham.
Congratulations to the following PCM9GA players with three or more Skin Wins:
5 Skin Wins: Phil Stegman
4 Skin Wins: Cliff Pearson
3 Skin Wins: Cliff Mercer, Ken Simmons, Bruce Dice, Lennie Liebowitz, Gerald Franklyn, Mark Swartz, Steve Schwartz, Trevor Ballinger
After this exciting event, a large number of our event participants gathered at our favorite Tuscany Westwind watering hole to relax. Our PCM9GA board and committee members always make a maximum effort to ensure success of our events and once again hats off to our PCM9GA pairing committee members and Randy Vleck for an outstanding effort.
