Although many of our PCM9GA snowbird members have been enjoying their hiatus in cooler areas, our semi-monthly tournament events have still attracted sizable member participation and our recently held July 28 event, utilizing the Eagle’s Nest front-nine course, was no exception with about 50 or more members participating.

Our tournament pairing staff, always showing off their vivid creativity, this time offered the CHA-CHA-CHA format, no not related to the well-known Latin-American Dance Step, but simply a scoring format in that depending upon the hole played, either one, two or three net scores from each foursome team was used as the basis of determining the net nine-hole team score. Specifically for holes one, four and seven, one score was used, for two, five and eight, two team net scores were compiled and correspondingly for holes three, six and nine, three team member scores were used. Of course, the net member scores were compiled on the basis of each golfer’s AGA handicap and as usual, the scores were adjusted based upon “POPS” which score reductions are ranging from zero POPS to three POPS depending upon the individual player’s handicap. Sure enough, there were many virtual Birdies and a few virtual Eagles or perhaps Double Eagles which happens when a high handicap golfer with two or three POPS on a specific hole scores an actual Par.

As expected the competition was as usual tight and kudos to the Bjarne Kaer, Don Drummond, Dave Burrows and Joey Romero winning team which came in with a net 58. The summary of the winners are as follows:

Our active summer event schedule continues with the Summer Sizzler Tournament on August 28 and our annual Summer Survivor Tournament will be held on September 28. Since all PebbleCreek courses will be closed for most of October through early November for reseeding, four off-campus events are scheduled at local area courses to include Falcon Dunes, Sundance, Coyote Lakes and Coldwater. Our current membership role is at 348 members and we highly urge new interested members to join our truly outstanding fun-loving group which welcomes golfers at all skill levels. The $50 annual cost includes dues for the AGA membership which is essential for handicap reporting.
