Now that we are in the middle of the Arizona torrid heat and quite humid Monsoon climate, and with many of our snowbird members long gone to wherever they can cool off, a somewhat smaller but still sizable group of about 50 enthusiastic PCM golfers tied off on our Tuscany Lakes Course on Thursday, June 25 utilizing once again the CHA-CHA-CHA Tournament format. For the hot season months for May through September our PCM9GA group most fortunately is blessed with 7:30 a.m. tee times which means we finish up in the range of about 10:00 a.m. and gather at the clubhouse for refreshments long before the furnace like Arizona heat takes hold.

For those of us not quite familiar with the seemingly myriad of golf tournament scoring formats, the Cha-Cha-Cha Tournament format utilizes the net scores of from one to three foursome team members based upon the golf hole being played. For example, one team member’s net score was used for holes 1, 4 and 7. Moving on now for holes 2, 5, and 8 and then holes 3, 6 and 9, two and three team member scores were respectively compiled to determine the net aggregate team score for the full nine holes played. As always, for such tournament formats, the scores compiled for each team member are net scores based upon their prevailing AGA handicaps. This is one intriguing aspect of the tournament net adjusted per player scores since it affords the opportunity of having their ego tremendously boosted by getting a PAR on a PAR 5 hole and having their high handicap rating result in getting a net three or two for the hole which equates to a virtual Eagle or perhaps a double Eagle.
