Our PCM9GA group has grown by leaps and bounds from its humble inception in 2005 and our participating active members have always looked forward to our weekly golfing events which, thanks to our current leadership and pairing committee, has become ever more interesting and quite intriguing.
Our recent Summer Sizzler Tournament conducted on August 27 utilizing our Tuscany Falls Course proved to be among the most diverse and interesting event ever since it was arranged to be in a PAR 3 format and quite remarkably, artificial temporary tees were set up for the entire nine holes of play. In addition to adding a tad more drama and challenge, for example, one tee was set up directly in the center of a sand trap and one additional tee off location was set up directly behind a group of trees. Furthermore and certainly adding to the intrigue, Closest-to-the Pin competition was conducted for each hole but with the stipulation that each golfer was allowed to select only one ball location for a hole, which meant that once you selected and placed the hole marker flag on any hole, that was it and you would be disqualified if you had a closer to the pin location selected for any subsequent initial hole drive. By the way, the aggregate team score for each team was based upon the gross number of strokes for each team member.
As it turns out, eight of the nine holes resulted in Closest-to-the-Pin Winners since no one even reached the green for hole one. Kudos to the First Place Foursome consisting of John Brown, Tom Pizzello, Josh Rabinowitz and Skip Gault which came in with a gross score of 138. As to be expected, the second place team also scored a 138 and tie breaking rules were required to determine the first and second place winner.
The results were as follows:
Place Score Team Members
1 138 John Brown, Tom Pizzello, Josh Rabinowitz, Skip Gault
2 138 Bjarne Kaer, Bob Cowan, Bruce Hulbert, Bill McLindon
3 140 Dave Gasch, Jim Halbmaier, Bart Ventura, Don Burrows
Closest-To-Pin Winners
Hole 1 No winner
Hole 2 rank Rodgers
Hole 3 Dave Gasch
Hole 4 Josh Rabinowitz
Hole 5 Bill Wagner, Jr.
Hole 6 Ed Force

Following the event, all tournament participants were treated to a special lunch with the menu including a variety of very tasty tacos and excellent Margaritas. In addition, all winners were congratulated and cash prizes were awarded to our eight talented Closest-to-the Pin winners.
