On a seasonally quite warm morning of Aug. 22, 54 PCM9GA always enthusiastic golfers participated in a Step-Aside Tournament format utilizing the Tuscany Falls West back-nine golf course. Considering the fact that a considerable number of PCM9GA regular snowbird members who normally golf several times weekly were still out until the fall, this event generated great participation for a summer PCM9GA event.
The Step-Aside Tournament format scoring Is based upon a score where each foursome member initially tees off for each hole. The best ball or most favorably positioned ball then was used as the basis of each succeeding hole with the team member whose ball was utilized refrains from taking the next team stroke. The single composite net team score was based upon each PCM9GA golfer’s prevailing AGA handicap with greater adjustments made of the higher handicap golfers. Once again, our pairing committee did a remarkable job in preserving a level competitive playing field since the scoring results were incredibly close with only 2 gross strokes and 2 net strokes separating the first and last place teams.
Kudos to the winning foursome comprised of Trevor Ballinger, Kerry Walsh, David Kennedy, and Mike Mealer with gross and net scores of 35 and 30. Likewise congratulations to our Closest to the Pin and Longest Putt winners consisting of Trevor Ballinger, Doug Wainwright, and David Robertson.
