Our PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) conducted a quite bizarre but tremendously interesting Goofy Golf Tournament on Aug. 8, utilizing the front nine at Tuscany East. A total of 44 PCM9GA golfers teed off in a shotgun format at 7:30 a.m. to unquestionably more variety and player obstacles imaginable at any sport event.

Congratulations to our President Ray Clements and our PCM9GA support staff, which included John Mazzukelly, Greg Ray, Sam Ellis, and Kyle Metzler for successfully pulling off a truly awesome event.

Each hole offered its most unexpected obstacles as follows as well as the requirement to carry only four golf clubs in each foursome member golf bag for the entire event:

Hole 1: Tee off from 12inch tall foam tee

Hole 2: Putting required ball to rest inside hula hoop surrounding hole

Hole 3: Teeing off using opposite handed club

Hole 4: Tee off at cones directly behind sand trap

Hole 5: Each golfer played entire hole with the same one golf club including putting

Hole 6: Tee off from sand trap

Hole 7: Once on green, used funky weird golf ball that moved unpredictably

Hole 8: After players teed off, drive selection was determined by picking a card

Hole 9: Following all team members’ second shot, third shot required throwing the golf ball

Opinions varied dramatically as to which obstacle was the most bizarre and difficult, especially the extreme challenge of short chipping over the hula hoop on Hole 2 where the frustration level appeared often overwhelming. In any event, it appears all golfers immensely enjoyed the fun and challenge.

As it turns out, the winning foursome consisting of Guy Decoster, Mike Meyer, Cliff Crooks, and Richard Tighe scored a remarkably low 5 under Par 31, which was an awesome achievement considering the severity of the goofy golf obstacles. Somewhat closely behind were the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place winning foursomes with three 34 scores and one 35 score.

Kudos to our prize-winning teams as follows:

First place: Guy DeCosterd, Mike Meyer, Cliff Crooks, Richard Tighe, 31

Second place: Steve Roseman, Frank Chop, Ron Froemming, Mickey Osterneck, 34

Third place: Erv Stein, Roger Leblanc, Derrick Doud, Lloyd Garner, 34

Following the event, we all met at the Chianti Room to enjoy a continental breakfast and to announce and award winners and take photos of the event champions.
