Our PCM9GA conducted the second of a total of three off-campus tournaments at the Coyote Lakes Golf Club in Surprise, Arizona.
Coyote Lakes is a very beautiful manicured course loaded with pristine plants and trees and a host of wildlife including prairie dogs and, of course, jackrabbits. While the rating of Coyote Lakes from the white tees is quite comparable to the white tees at most of our five PebbleCreek Courses, for whatever the reason, we all teed off from the Gold Tees which challenged many of us quite significantly. Also, the course was quite narrow from the back tee areas for most holes and furthermore most of the sidelines and rough areas on the sidelines were protected and taking strokes from many of the rough areas was prohibited. Furthermore, the fresh rye grass was very tall in most areas which equated to poor fairway shots and a myriad of lost balls.
Nevertheless, we all had a terrific time utilizing a Best Ball format in which every team member played their own ball for each stroke. The lowest two net team member scores were used to determine the aggregate team score for each hole and in addition, each team member received from zero to two or more POP credits depending upon their prevailing AGA handicap.
Kudos to the winning foursome comprised of Greg Edwards, Ed Force, Jay Ward and Don Burrows for coming with a most very impressive net 132 considering the challenge of teeing off from the Gold Tees. Congratulations to all winners as follows:
Rank Net Team Team
Score Members
1 132 Greg Edwards, Ed Force, Jay Ward, Don Burrows
2 138 Trevor Ballinger, Connie Neeley, Ted McGovern, Bob Spano
3 139 Gary Draus, B. Hedien, Clay Troxell, Randy Prinz
Closest to the Pin Winners – Ted McGovern, Gary Lord, Randy James, Pete Pederson, Paul Parker
We all gathered and socialized after the event for lunch together at the Coyote Lakes Clubhouse Restaurant and the winners were announced and congratulated.
The annual PebbleCreek Golf Course reseeding is now completed and our regular weekly golfing event resumed on November 10 at PebbleCreek with high participation due to the return of our snowbird members. Our semi-annual Membership Meeting was held on November 16 and our always highly anticipated PCM9GA Holiday Party will be held on December 9.
Our current membership role is about 350 members and we highly urge new, interested members to join our truly outstanding fun-loving group which welcomes golfers at all skill levels. The $50 annual cost includes dues for the AGA membership which is essential for handicap reporting. From October 1 through the end of December, new members may join for the same $50 membership fee with the added advantage of having their membership dues covered through the remainder of 2016 as well as all of year 2017.
