Our PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) conducted a very well received first tournament of 2026 on Jan. 15 utilizing the Tuscany West Course under excellent afternoon temperate weather conditions. A full house of 144 highly enthused PCM9GA golfers participated in the quite interesting Match Play format. The Match Play format consists of hole-by-hole, head-to-head golf play where the player with the lowest net score wins that hole. A total of about 144 golfers, four groups of 36 foursomes, were divided into 72 two golfer teams. For the total of nine holes played by each two-golfer team, the golfer winning the greatest number of holes was declared the match winner. Ties for individual holes were common and a few teams wound up deadlocked with identical tie scores. One very well received aspect of this Match Play event is that it afforded a significantly large number of winners with approximately 70 players winning the Match Play competition.

Kudos to the Match Play Winners with the following golfers winning a total of five holes:

Jeff Fischer, 5-4

Kerry Walsh, 5-3

Peter Herman, 5-4

John Mazzukelly, 5-3

Keith Frankel, 5-4

Jeff Carren, 5-3

Hats off to our Closest to Pin/Longest Putt winners: Don Paxton, Michael Davis, Jerry Matousek and Ken Simmons.

Following the event, many of our players convened at the Westwind Tavern patio area to complete our great start for our incredibly full and exciting 2026 event activity schedule. Following our Skin Tournament event on Jan. 22 and our Two Low-Net Event on Feb. 5, our highly anticipated annual Club Championship Tournament and Banquet was held on February 12 and 19. Our next major event will be our Member-Guest Charity Tournament to be conducted on March 26 and March 27, which is expected to raise up to $20,000 to benefit the Luke Spouses Club Welfare Account charitable operations such as military dependent college scholarships and a myriad of additional community charitable contributions.

Our PCM9GA group, founded in 2005 and now in its 21st year of operation, has experienced exponential growth in recent months. We highly encourage prospective new PCM9GA members in our exceptional, fun-loving, low-key group of golfers to contact our membership chairman, Dusty Howard, at 805-218-6461.
