For the torrid summer months, our non-snowbird PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) members meet weekly at the far more temperate 7:30 a.m. event start times and conducted a Lone Ranger Tournament on June 26 at our Tuscany West Course with 72 enthusiastic participating golfers. Utilizing the Lone Ranger Tournament scoring format, one designated player’s score, the “Lone Ranger,” was used to determine the 4-team score for each hole along with the lowest score of the remaining three team members on an alternating basis. The net team score for each hole is then calculated utilizing the Lone Ranger designated golfer’s score plus the best score of the remaining three team members. To ensure a level competitive playing, the prevailing AGA handicaps for each team member were factored in to determine the winning teams and so forth. The competition was incredibly close with a mere two strokes separating the first place and fifth place teams.
Hats off to the winning teams as follows:
1: Keith Stumpp, Don Troxell, Ted McGovern, Bill Lansing, -11 to Par Net, 61 Total Net
2: Steve Roseman, Richard Bee, Richard Johnson, Dave Robertson, -9 to Par Net, 63 Total Net
3: John Howell, John Miller, Barry Taschner, -9 to Par Net, 63 Total Net
4: Scott Biard, Steve Striker, Peter Herman, Phil Stegmann, -9 to Par Net, 63 Total Net
5: Peter Kirby, Bob Brett, Mike Harrigton, Cliff Crooks, -9 to Par Net, 63 Total Net
Kudos to Closest to Pin and Longest Putt Winners: Bob Brett, Mike Harrigton, Tim Pisarski, Randy Prinz, and Peter Rollison.
Following our event, many of us congregated and relaxed at the Westwind Tavern, which has become a favorite gathering spot for after event golfers. Our pairing and other key staff members as usual are to be commended for facilitating another excellent event.
Our summer events typically attract close to the maximum of 72 golfers for a 9-hole event.
