Erv Stein
A somewhat smaller group of 48 PCM9GA golfers, due to the massive snowbird seasonal defection, teed off at our Palms Course on a very humid morning of August 11 utilizing the Cha Cha Cha Tournament Format.
Having played using this format on several previous occasions, we were no longer quite as amused by the misleading quite prominent Latin American Dance title similarity and simply for each foursome, depending upon the hole, one, two or three team member scores were counted to determine the net nine-hole team score. As per usual, the net score for each team member is based upon their individual prevailing AGA handicap which results in anywhere from zero to three stroke credits or POPS for each hole. As always, with this format, we often see many excited and gleeful high handicap, or even our lower handicapped, golfers when they score anywhere from a virtual Birdie to often an Eagle, Double Eagle and, yes, a virtual hole-in-one or perhaps even a zero score for that hole.
To no surprise for anyone, the winning foursomes came in with almost, but not quite, identical net team scores and tie breaking rules were again used to determine the second and third place winners:
Our hats off to the winners as follows:
First Place: R. Goodwin, Clay Troxell, Charlie Wiley, Jed Weismann – 67
Second Place: Trevor Ballinger, Ron Svoboda, Kent Chu, Joe Belonax – 69
Third Place: Monte Page, Dave Kennedy, M. Wisser, H. Franzone – 9
Closest to Pin Winner was Rob Risden
Our PCM9GA group proudly participated in our annual Summer Survival Tournament with all four PebbleCreek groups on September 28 and everyone participating simply had a terrific time. With our annual seasonal closure for most of October and the first part of November for the mandatory over-seeding operations, our PCM9GA weekly events will be held at off campus locations as follows:
October 13: Falcon Dunes
October 20: Sundance
October 27: Coyote Lakes
November 3: Coldwater
Our current membership role is about 350 members and we highly urge new interested members to join our truly outstanding fun-loving group which welcomes golfers at all skill levels. The $50 annual cost includes dues for the AGA membership which is essential for handicap reporting. Beginning October 1, new members may join for the same $50 membership fee with the added advantage of having their membership dues covered through the remainder of 2016 as well as all of year 2017. Please visit the PebbleCreek PCM9GA website at www.PCM9GA.org or you may contact our current PCM9GA Membership Chairman Bruce Hulbert at 623-535-8761.
