On Monday, May 11 and Thursday, May 14 the first ever joint PCM9GA and Sun City Grand Nine-Hole Golf Club joint tournament event was held utilizing the Sun City Grand Desert Springs Course for the Monday nine hole event and then at our own Eagle’s Nest Course for the Thursday event.
For both tournament event days a total of 95 highly enthusiastic golfers from both clubs participated utilizing the aggregate net score format to determine the winning golf group based upon the 10 lowest net scores for both events from the Sun City golfers as well as our own PCM9GA golfers. Both the front and back nine net scores for each event were calculated from 10 of the lowest scores from Sun City Grand and the PCM9GA golfers.
As it turns out, our PCM9GA golfers put out a tremendous effort and we commend them and also kudos to the Sun City Nine Holers who bested us on both days with somewhat lower net scores. For the Monday event at Sun City Desert Springs the net team total result was 297 for Sun City Grand and 324 for our PCM9GA. The final tally for both events was a tad closer at 590 to 621. Congratulations to the 10 PCM9GA lowest net score golfers for the Sun City event as follows:
Randy Prinz 29; Don Burrows 31; Keith Charlesworth 32; Bill Hill 32; Bruce Ruder 32; Martin Dubbs 33; Bob Risden 33; Bob Caldwell 34; Ron Olberding 34 and Pat Spellacy 34
While our own beloved PCM9GA group did not come in first, we all simply had a terrific time and hats off to our ever innovative and creative PCM9GA President Ray Clements and his executive board and committee members along with our new PebbleCreek Golf Pro Jason Whitehill for putting the first ever joint PCM9GA and Sun City Grand Tournament together. Likewise, the similar excellent efforts from Stan Zeitz, President of the Sun City Grand Nine Holers and their SCG Golf Pro Dennis Downs and their staff assured the great success of this event.
After both events we all enjoyed the opportunity to have a buffet lunch and the opportunity to mix and get to know our not too distant Sun City neighbor golfers and we all look forward to the next joint event to even the score with the Sun City Nine Holers. Rest assured all our PCM9GA are determined as ever to win next time around.
As always, we urge new, interested members to join our fun loving group which welcomes golfers at all skill levels. Our Thursday event tee times are now at 7:30 a.m. which allows completing the nine holes in relative comfort before our searing Arizona heat takes hold. The $50 annual cost includes dues for the AGA membership which is essential for handicap reporting.
