The Green team won the 2023 tournament by 22 points!

The Green Mistletoers and the Red Pointsetters donned their red and green holiday outfits to light up two golf courses for the one-day golf event on Dec. 5 and officially commence the season of giving in PebbleCreek. The PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) modified the tournament this year to a one-day event. The match play golf tournament is an annual fundraiser for the New Life Center, and bragging rights for the winners.

Following play at Tuscany East and Eagle’s Nest, the golf pros announced the winners as the Green Mistletoers, who racked up 344 match play points over the Red Pointsetters at 322 points. Each lady received a small tee prize in recognition of their hard work on and off the course. The PCLGA women opened their hearts and wallets again this year to raise a record-breaking $11,242 for the New Life Center.

Molly Pino, a representative of the New Life Center (NLC), shared numerous statistics regarding this domestic violence organization. NLC is one of the largest in the country with 104 beds, and it provides emergency shelter to children, men, and women to provide safety from domestic violence and human trafficking. Located in Goodyear, the shelter also provides sexual assault training to law enforcement officials in the west valley.

A Closest-to-the-Pin competition was held on both courses in two handicap ranges. Winners were Jean Ostroga and Claudia Tiger (EN#4), Jean Ostroga and Lea Morse (EN#17), Emma Mosely (TFE #3), and Valerie Bobigian (TFE#6). The longest putt winners were Barb Chilton (EN#14), and Pam Kale (TFE#10). A new skills contest was added this year for Closest in Two (closest to the pin when landing on the green in regulation), and the winners were Ann Page and Vicki Ray (EN#5), Margaret Dlouhy (EN#11), Emma Mosely and Diana Hull (TFE#13), and Pam Volm (TFE#17).

A special thank you to Co-Chairs Cherrie Pierson and Barb Guthier, along with their support team of Kathy Hubert-Wyss, Mary Pinski, Deb Smedley, Sharon Johnson, and Jenna Ridgeway, and the great golf and catering staff who added their special talents to make this another huge success.

Gifts to the New Life Center are eligible for tax credit for Arizona residents. If you file income taxes in Arizona, your gift will reduce your tax liability or increase your refund—up to $400 if you file as an individual and up to $800 if you file as a couple. The PCLGA encourages all PebbleCreek residents to consider making a donation to this worthy local cause at www.newlifecenter.org.
