The first tournament of the Ladies Arizona Summer Survivor Invitational (LASSI) group was played at Corte Bella Country Club in Sun City West, June 3, with a field of 112 players (56 two-person teams).
Corte Bella Country Club is private and is built in traditional style with Bermuda grass fairways. Ladies reported that the course was in great condition, was challenging, had tight lies, mega sand traps and undulating, fast greens.
Five two-person teams from PebbleCreek participated: Sue White/Pat DeMatties; Chris Cook/Jean Ostroga; Donna Havener/Kathi Curtis; Barb Chilton/Sharon Johnson and Judy Newell/Cherrie Pierson.
Unfortunately, none of the ladies found themselves in the winner circle within their flights; but Pat DeMatties had the longest putt on Hole No. 3 in her flight; (Flight D.) Congratulations, Pat.
The LASSI group plays golf courses in the Valley, taking advantage of the lower green fees that hot weather brings. LASSI Tournament fees at each course include mulligans, green fees, cart, prize fees, range balls and lunch at the hosting club. It is a great value and fun way to meet other lady golfers from around the Valley.
The next LASSI tournament is July 1, 2019, at Copper Canyon Golf Club at Sun City Festival.
