The third Central Arizona Golf District (CAGD) tournament of the year was played on June 10, at the Orange Tree Golf Club in Scottsdale.
The course was described as being long and challenging. Ladies were able to tee off early in hopes of beating the heat, but it got pretty warm. Despite the course conditions and weather, the ladies enjoyed meeting players from the different clubs and had fun playing a different course.
Two PebbleCreek Ladies Golf Association (PCLGA) teams won in their respective flights. The game played was a two-person net best ball. The winners were Judy Newell and Candy Burtis (Robson Ranch) in the 1st low net in flight 1 plus, and Linda Thompson and Carol Sanders in the 2nd low gross in flight 3.
Other PCLGA two-person teams were Carole Escajeda/Carolyn Suttles and Sue Harrison/Louise Levanti.
In addition to winning the 1st low net in her flight, Judy Newell was tied with another player for the lowest individual gross score of 85 and was tied with another individual for the lowest individual net score of 69. She was also one of three ladies who had a birdie. Great day of golf, Judy!
The next CAGD tournament will be on Sept. 16, at Oakwood Country Club in Sun Lakes.
