The Pebble Creek Wine Club enjoyed its monthly dinner on Aug. 16 at the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Margaritas were served during the pre-dinner reception while 81 members visited with friends, both new and old. President Jeri Lynne Jones introduced Michael Peterson, the representative from St. Francis Winery, who shared a brief history of the winery with us.
The innovative four-course dinner prepared by Chef Shanen was appreciated by all in attendance. Our first and second courses were as beautifully presented as they were delicious. The appetizer course was highlighted by a delicious graham cracker shrimp, lemon marmalade, fresh fruit relish, and cheese. The salad was an arugula salad with fresh cherries and lavender, cracked pepper, and a honey black currant dressing. The appetizer course was served with St. Francis Chardonnay while the salad course was served with St. Francis Reserve Merlot.
Our entrees were a choice of hazelnut crusted duck with chai sauce, coffee short ribs with mushroom bourbon sauce, or cherry glazed catfish with red wine sauce. The entrees were served with St. Francis Reserve Old Vine Zinfandel.
The fantastic dessert was a layered Ube mousse, coffee cream pavlova with wild berry glaze, plated with berries, gin-soaked strawberries, lavender sugar and mint leaves. This beautiful offering was served with St. Francis Sonoma Valley Cabernet.
Several bottles of wine were raffled off throughout the evening between courses. The big winner was Kare Bears who received the proceeds of approximately $300.
Our next dinner was on Sept. 20th in the newly remodeled Tuscany Ballroom. For more information, visit our website at pcwineclub.org.
