Councilwoman Laura Kaino and Economic Development Director Laura Gary are welcomed By PebbleCreek Singles Club President Judy Maloney.

Goodyear Councilwoman Laura Kaino and Economic Development Director Laura Gary gave a presentation at the PebbleCreek Singles meeting held on March 3. They addressed the growth and future plans in and around our community.

This is a very exciting time in the West Valley as we continue to grow. The current population in Goodyear is 85,000 with an expected population to be 100,000 by the year 2020. Goodyear is fortunate to have a strong infrastructure in which to support the many new companies relocating or starting new developments in our community.

Job growth in recent years has been aided by the purchase and development of numerous new projects. Future plans include a Microsoft Technology Complex, a large Medical Center, Data Centers and various small businesses. In 2018 we saw the opening of a new manufacturing plant by Bell Corp and the opening of internet fulfillment plants by Chewy and UPS Corporation, as well as newly opened Bath and Body Works, Dunkin Donuts, and Orange Theory Fitness. Most recently the purchase of a 40 acres retail complex at the corner of PebbleCreek Parkway and McDowell Road, is scheduled to be developed as a gas station and ten acres to include more shopping, dining and entertainment.

Some of the other companies slated to open in Goodyear in 2019 are the following: Urban Air Adventure Park, Starbucks, Aldi’s, TRU by Hilton, Springhill Suites, Club Pilates and a sit-down restaurant near the recently opened 16 screen Harkins Theater multiplex.

In addition to the presentation, members caught up on special events planned for the upcoming months, along with the regularly monthly activities, such as Pictionary, Brunch and a Movie, Happy Hour and Friday Game Nights. On the schedule is a tour of the Ping Factory, Cubs vs Indians baseball game and a trip to the Renaissance Festival.

The PC Singles Club is a social (not a dating) club, which meets on the first Sunday of each month in the Tuscany Ballroom.
