The PC Singles Club has a long history and a strong commitment of giving back to the community, and this year is no exception. Although the pandemic has changed how we would normally support our chosen charity, The Homeless Youth Connection, the club has found new ways to show their support.
On Aug. 30, members gathered together at Sunrise Park to enjoy an ice cream treat and to show support by donating to the program’s cause. School supplies, personal hygiene products, gift cards, and cash donations were among the items donated. The mission of the Homeless Youth Connection is to raise public awareness, and to meet the needs of homeless teens who are experiencing obstacles they face each day.
Established in 2009, they provide services and programs designed to help homeless teens achieve a successful and self-sufficient future. Currently, there are limited social services in the East and West Valley, none of which serve homeless youths. The Homeless Youth Connection works with homeless teens to create lasting solutions by planning for the future. They provide food, housing, basic personal needs, counseling services, as well as assistance with medical care, and documentation of vital records, to enable them to secure employment when that time comes. Their vision is that homelessness should not limit an opportunity for a successful future.
The Singles Club membership meetings and social activities are suspended at this time due to the pandemic, with the exception of golf. Anyone interested in playing golf can sign up on the PC Singles webpage.
