On Monday, April 15, the PebbleCreek Rollers bowling league celebrated the conclusion of their 2018-2019 season at their annual banquet. The banquet was held at the Tuscany Falls ballroom and was attended by 87 members of the league. A fine barbeque meal was served and all of the prize winners were announced.
Many residents in PebbleCreek are not even aware that we have a “real” bowling league. The PC Rollers bowl three games every Monday night at 6:00 p.m. at the Bowlero Bowling Lanes located at Van Buren and Central Avenues in Avondale. The league starts the first week of October and runs for 25 weeks (off for Christmas and New Year’s). The season concludes the second week of April.
The PC Rollers was established in 2000 by John Spooler and Rich Hauser. The league is sanctioned by the USBC (United States Bowling Congress). It started with 14 four-person teams and at one point grew to 32 teams. Eighty percent of the league members are PebbleCreek residents. Each team is mixed (both male and female) and contains up to five members (four regular and one alternate). Each bowler establishes a handicap based on his or her scoring average.
The league officers for the 2018-2019 season were Stan Lockitski (President), Monte Page (VP) and Jackie Voccola (Secretary/Treasurer). There was a total of 24 teams that competed this season.
The competition is team match play. Each team receives two points for each game won and one point for total pins. Each team is awarded annual prize money based on their team standings. For this season, first place received $312 and second place received $220. Individual and team prizes were also awarded.
