On May 21, the PebbleCreek Billiards Club (PCBC) hosted the Buckeye Legends (BL) in a friendly but very competitive afternoon at PebbleCreek’s Salerno Billiards Room.
The showdown featured two distinct matches. The first match was a one-on-one ‘mini’ 8-ball series, using nine balls (the 8-ball, four solids, and four stripes) instead of the traditional 15. Each of PCBC’s five players faced every BL opponent twice, resulting in a 50-game match. PCBC emerged victorious, clinching 29 games to BL’s 21. Dan Harris and Rene Lefebvre were PCBC’s standout performers, each securing seven wins out of 10 games.
The second match used a ranked head-to-head format, pairing players based on number of wins from the first match, for four standard 8-ball games. PCBC’s Lynn Warren dominated, sweeping all four of his games. Teammates Dan Harris, Rene Lefebvre, Bruce White, and Blair Dreyfus each won three of their four games, propelling PCBC to a commanding 16-4 victory in the 20-game series. All of the players enjoyed the competition, and the clubs will play again next month.
