PC Players, Now in Rehearsals for “Into the Breeches!”
Carrie Mataraza
In 1942 in Providence, R.I., the men are off to fight World War II and the women at home are determined not to let the Oberon Play House go dark for the duration. Even without their accustomed director and a scarcity of male actors, Maggie Dalton, the absent Director’s wife, is resolute; she will carry on and produce an all-female version of Shakespeare’s Henriad. How she will convince the theater’s board to allow her to do that and then gather a cast and crew from among the townspeople is part of her challenge. Maggie gets help from Celeste, the Play House Diva, who becomes a surprising partner, and they recruit some unexpected “talent.”
Despite missing their husbands at the Front and being on pins and needles waiting to hear from them, the new team unites. During rehearsals differences are put aside. The women learn how to act and how to “walk like a man.” They are determined to put on a good performance.
All this is a perfect recipe for a wonderful comedy that has some serious things to say about seizing the moment and learning what it means to persevere with newly discovered skills and faith in reaching your goal.
Into the Breeches! will be on stage in our Renaissance Theater on Wednesday, March 6 through Saturday, March 9. Tickets are $16.50 each and will go on sale in February, so watch for an announcement with dates and details in the egroup and the PebbleCreek Post about opening day sales to plan your schedule and choose your seats.
Director Jim Greer and his team are as bound and determined as their characters are to produce a funny, heartening show for PebbleCreek. Into the Breeches! will make you laugh and also tear at your emotions a bit as you watch the actors, some whom you may know and others somewhat new to PC Players, perform for you. This is one play you will really want to experience for yourself.
Ring Out the Old, Ring In the New

PebbleCreek Singers “rang out 2023” with another outstanding holiday concert, singing to a full house every performance. Post-concert audience chatter praised the selection of music, the complexity of the numbers performed, and the professional look and sound of the full chorus and ensembles.
The choristers “season finale” was a celebration banquet held on Dec. 4 in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Director Jerry Drake, the Singers, and the production staff enjoyed an evening of relaxation, fun, and great food, hosted by the organization’s Executive Board. It was also a time of expressing appreciation to all the people who contributed their time and talent to make the concert a success. Currently, the chorus is enjoying a well-deserved six-week break.
The chorus will “ring in 2024” on Monday, Jan. 15, when rehearsals start for an all-new, exciting spring concert. Concert dates are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 25, 26, and 27, 2024. Watch for future articles in the PebbleCreek Post for program details and dates of ticket sales.
You can “sing in 2024” by becoming a part of the PC Singers family. Join now and be on stage with us for the spring 2024 concert. The audition process is simple and private.
