The members of the Nurses Group of PebbleCreek continue to learn at each of our breakfast meetings. In mid-January we listened to an enlightening presentation by Stephen Hwang, M.D., a board certified ophthalmological surgeon with Arizona Eye Specialists about the most common eye issues as we age. Dr. Hwang discussed the latest technologies and surgical interventions to correct these maladies. Symptoms as benign and common as dry eye and cataracts were presented along with macular degeneration and glaucoma. We are fortunate in that many of these treatments are much less invasive and debilitating than years past. It is very important to get an annual eye examination by a qualified ophthalmologist (MD or DO specializing in eye diseases) as we age. As with most medical issues, early detection is paramount to a good outcome.
If you are a nurse (RN or LPN), retired or active, come join us at one of our breakfast meetings. It is an opportunity to socialize, network and listen to an informative presentation. The topics in the past have ranged from home health care and community resources, dermatological conditions and specific diagnostic categories. No membership fees; just good networking and camaraderie. Meetings are typically held on the third Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. Call me, Dee-Dee Patrick, at 708-494-0008 or email me at [email protected] for more information.
