Auditions for ShowTime’s 25th Anniversary Celebration
Laurie Farquhar
Auditions for ShowTime’s exciting 25th Anniversary celebration are coming up soon. Have you booked your audition time?
ShowTime—Celebrating 25 Years of Entertainment will be a high-energy reminiscence of more than 40 productions that the musical theater company has presented over the past quarter century, with excerpts from favorite songs, comedy routines, dances, and monologues. Directors Karyn Horst, Nancy Clyne, and Chrissy Bridges have chosen the “best of the best” from a wide range of musicals and musical revues such as Anything Goes, Nashville to Vegas, and The Music Man.
Whether you have been in several ShowTime productions or you are new to PebbleCreek, everyone is welcome to audition. All roles are open, because Celebrating 25 Years will be a rendition of past performances and not necessarily a reproduction.
The show will run six nights from April 8 to April 13, 2024, but auditions are on Oct. 30, Nov. 1, and Nov. 2, 2023.
To schedule an audition, please send an email to [email protected]. You will then receive an Information Letter that has more details about trying out for the show. In addition, there will be a link for the online Audition Form. Please note, you are welcome to audition for more than one role. Singers can try out for speaking parts; actors can audition as musicians; musicians can go for singing roles. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive the audition material, and someone will contact you to schedule your audition time. If you need help with your application, please call Chrissy at 623-521-6084. The deadline for submitting your application is Oct. 9.
Come join the party as ShowTime—Celebrating 25 Years of Entertainment remembers the many terrific productions that the musical theater company has presented over the years, and honors the countless number of people both on stage and behind the scenes, who made them possible. It will be a show that PebbleCreek will be talking about for a long time.
‘It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll’ Tickets on Sale This Month
Laurie Farquhar
Hey rock ‘n’ roll fans, what is your favorite part of a rock concert? Is it the live band, the amazing vocalists, or the high energy created by the audience singing along with the performers? You can experience all of these elements of a great rock concert when ShowTime presents its original musical revue, It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, next month.
It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll is a history of rock ‘n’ roll from its early days in the 1950s through to the ’70s. This covers a wide range of music styles from Doo Wop to Garage Bands, but the one thing every good rock concert has is a live band.
This ShowTime production will have a classic rock ‘n’ roll band complete with drums, keyboards, guitars, and saxophone. Four of the band members are new to ShowTime, but Director Phil Lubman says they have lots of experience performing with other groups. Dan Krause played with “Paul Revere and the Raiders” for more than 40 years. Doug Harris was the drummer for several bands in the midwest before coming to PebbleCreek. Ron Devine returned to his long-time love of guitar playing when he moved here, and Robert Rochefort has played with groups in Canada. The veteran band member, Steve Jensen, is known for his guitar prowess in a number of ShowTime and PC Musicians productions.
It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll runs from Monday, Nov. 13 through Saturday, Nov. 18, with all performances at 7 p.m. in the Renaissance Theater. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. and will be available online at the HOA website, www.pebblecreekhoa.org. There is no need to log into the website. Just click on “Things to Do” and then scroll down to “Ticket Sales.”
All seats are still only $16.50, which includes the service fees. VISA and MasterCard are accepted. If you would like some assistance with your purchase, call JoAnn Smyth at 623-466-8471, and she will be happy to help you over the phone.
It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll promises to take you back to an era when young musicians and singers were changing the music world with innovative new sounds and rhythms. It is the music of our youth. Make sure you get your tickets early, because you know this is going to be the concert of the season. As the famous English rock band Jethro Tull sings, “No, you’re never too old to rock and roll.”
PebbleCreek Singers Holiday Concert
Diane Piehl
It’s October and the PC Singers are in full swing of rehearsals for the holiday concert, “Enjoy the Holiday Spirit.” If you want a holiday sing-along, a silent night, tidings of comfort, or jingling bells, you won’t want to miss this concert to be presented Nov. 29 through Dec. 2, in the Renaissance Theater beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale online at 8 a.m. on Oct. 30. Just a heads up: Purchasing tickets is easier if using a Windows PC or a Mac computer rather than tablets or smartphones, as screens differ.
The chorus specialty groups, The Four Kings, 8 is Enough, Key of She, and Triple Trouble, have been working diligently on their musical presentation to put you into the holiday spirit of the season.
The chorus welcomed a new member for the holiday concert: Baritone Jim Walker along with returning second soprano Alice Haywood.
