The Kitchen Witches: Do you have your tickets?
Laurie Farquhar
“Good afternoon everyone. How many of you have ever been to a live TV show before? Okay, for you first-timers, let me tell you a little about what’s going to happen here today. The show is live, which means that anything—and I mean anything—can happen.” – Stephen Biddle, producer of The Kitchen Witches
PebbleCreek Player’s production of The Kitchen Witches opens in a few weeks, and there are still a few tickets available if you would like to join the “TV studio audience” for this mad-cap comedy about two rival cooking show hostesses forced to work together on a low-budget cable access program. Dolly Biddle and Isobel Lomax have hated each other for 30 years, so when they are in a room together, food and insults fly freely.
The Kitchen Witches runs four nights from Wednesday, Oct. 23 to Saturday, Oct. 26. The “broadcast” begins at 7 p.m. in the Renaissance Theater. Tickets may be purchased online by going to pebblecreekhoa.org. Click on “Things to Do” and scroll down to “Ticket Sales.” The link to purchase tickets is about halfway down the page. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. In-person tickets are available on Tuesday and Friday mornings, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the theater lobby. All tickets are $16.50, which includes the service fee.
The Kitchen Witches promises to have you in stitches. As Stephen Biddle says, “With two ladies who mix as well as water and oil … chances are not only eggs and cream will be beat!” Jerry Springer and Martha Stewart would approve.

Diane Piehl
It’s really almost Christmastime again, with mistletoe, holly, silver bells, cookies, and chocolate-covered everything! Mark your calendars as the PebbleCreek Singers concert, “Mistletoe and Holly,” is fast approaching. Concert dates are Dec. 4, 5, 6, and 7 in the Renaissance Theater beginning at 7 p.m., when the chorus hopes you’ll kick off the holiday season enjoying a wide arrangement of music for this special time of year. Opening day of ticket sales is Nov. 2, with further information forthcoming.
As the chorus delves into perfecting a vast variety of secular, traditional holiday and Christmas music for your listening pleasure, the specialty groups within the group are doing the same. The Four Kings welcomes a new member, having lost one to a move out of state. Triple Trouble always pleases with something different and fun. 8 Is Enough enjoys their antics as much as the audience. And, a newly formed sextet will make their debut. There will be other musical surprises as well to enhance the Singers’ performance.
Mark your calendars, get in the mood for the holidays, and join Frosty and the Singers on Dec. 4, 5, 6, or 7! You’ll be delighted with the selections!

Kids’ Connection
KT Tanner
Kids’ Connection will resume in 2020 with a kick-off meeting in January. We perform stories for children in preschools and primary grades in community elementary schools. We use facial expressions, voices, and simple gestures or movements to “paint a picture” for the children. Although the script is in front of us, we know our parts and relate directly to the children making every word and movement count. A narrator is often used to keep the story moving smoothly and ease the transitions.
If you have grandchildren in neighborhood preschools or grade schools, email Pam Engel, [email protected], or KT Tanner, [email protected], and let us know where they attend. We’d love to include them on our tour.
Watch for further announcements about our January meeting. Previous or new performers, we’ll be looking for you. The children love these performances, and you will love bringing these stories alive.
