The Irish American Club’s Charitable Contribution Committee decided to offer a scholarship award to a deserving student from Millennium High School. Jim McKenna, Doyle Brown and John Flynn met with the guidance counselor, Ms. Jennifer Grumbling, who assisted with this project. Students had to write a one page personal statement describing their activities, academic goals and financial need. They also had to provide a letter of reference from a faculty member with their transcripts and attendance records.
After extensive interviews, Michila Elkins was selected to receive this scholarship award. She is very active in her school, has excellent grades and has been accepted to the Honors College – Barrett at A.S.U. This award of $500 was presented to Ms. Grumbling to help Michila with the additional expenses of the Honors College. Congratulations, Michila! Thank you to all of the members of the CCC for their hard work and dedication to our community.
