“Long ago, when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft.”

“Today, it’s called golf;” Irish saying.

The seventh annual PCIAC Charity Golf Tournament was held on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Tuscany Falls. There was a grand turnout with all 216 slots filled, followed by a scrumptious corned beef lunch in the ballroom, awards and wonderful raffle baskets. Bill Greenhoot entertained everyone as first place Leprechaun and Jan Kirk and Maureen Pugsley offered snacks and drinks for the players in their now famous Tart Cart.

This year the club introduced a nine hole scramble in addition to the eighteen hole format, allowing the broadest spectrum of players to enjoy the festivities. A wee bit of witchcraft might have been in the air as the winners played their way to the top with drives carried on fairy wings and mysterious putts threading their way to the hole. It was a fun day for everyone. Congratulations to the winners!

The PCIAC Golf Tournament proceeds benefitted two terrific local charities, the New Life Center and the Southwest Lending Closet. The New Life Center is based upon saving lives, building futures and empowering women and children escaping domestic violence. The Southwest Lending Closet loans home health equipment free to thousands of clients. A big thanks to Tournament Chairman Greg Roth and his excellent committee for a job really well done.
