Hiker Hits Another Milestone
For over 20 years, the hiking club has tracked statistics for every hike and Lynn Warren has held the record for most miles hiked for several years. He normally would have hit the 17,000-mile milestone several months earlier but came up 40 miles short and had to take time off because of failure of his OEM left hip (exceeded the warranty apparently). After surgery in May, Lynn’s not exactly a bionic man, but the titanium replacement hip is working fine so that he can continue normal hiking and pursue new milestones. Hikers Hitch a Ride
Lynn Warren
On June 10, eight hikers enjoyed a short 3-mile “EZ” hike which started near the windmills in White Tank Mountain Regional Park and proceeded east outside the park on the Maricopa trail. Dennis Zigmunt led the hike, which included visiting family members, and decided to add a point of local interest. The group went a short distance off trail outside the park to visit a rusted, shot-up relic from a bygone period. The hulk is affectionately known by PebbleCreek hikers as “Fred’s Ford” and everyone got into the spirit and got on, in, or behind the wreck for a fun group photo. The rest of the hike consisted of returning to the Maricopa trail and then back to the windmills for a short snack break.
