“B” Hikers Enjoy a White Tanks Loop
Lynn Warren
The White Tank Mountain Regional Park is a short distance northwest of PebbleCreek and is visited and enjoyed frequently by PebbleCreek hikers. On June 15, six “B” hikers completed a scenic, counterclockwise 8-mile loop, which started at the library and combined Mule Deer, Waterfall, and a couple of other trails to provide an interesting loop that was a different combination of familiar trails. It was a clear, sunny day but fortunately not as hot and humid as it would be a couple of weeks later after the beginning of monsoon, good practice for the hotter weather to come. Join the club and you too can enjoy the Arizona outdoors with a fun group of people. Visit the club website at pchikers.org for more information and photos.
Hiking Club Hikes Cairn Canyon
Kay Thomas
PebbleCreek Hiking Club members braved the heat in June to hike through Cairn Canyon in the Estrella Foothills nearby. Hikers are encouraged to build rock cairns along this section of the trail. Historically, loose rock cairns have been used as trail markers and vary in size from small stones to artificial hills. Pictured here, from front to back, are Neal Wring, Mary Hill, Lynn Warren, Jim Gillespie, Laurie Malatesta, Kris Raczkiewicz, Thom Zemke, Doug Bieker, Chris Pelikan, Jack Stroud, Dennis Zigmunt, Stacey Miller, and Dave Shuldt.
