PC Hikers Visit Lake Pleasant
Lynn Warren
It was just another hot summer morning when five PC hikers headed to Lake Pleasant to complete a scenic 7-mile Beardsley-Roadrunner hike; the hikers expected to get close-up views of burros but on this hike had to be satisfied with distant burro sightings (and a few turkey vultures) but impressive views of the lake. Even though monsoon activity created hot and humid conditions, the sun was shining on the lake and the air was relatively clear, so the hikers were treated to some beautiful scenes combining the blue lake water enhanced with puffy white clouds. The club hikes in many interesting areas around the valley, all year round, providing the opportunity to enjoy sights and terrain a person might not experience as a solo hiker. PC Hikers Enjoy a Summer Hike
Lynn Warren
The summer hikers have experienced many hot, humid days because of this year’s monsoon activity, so as a compromise to conditions, have tended to engage in shorter, somewhat easier hikes closer to PebbleCreek. On Sept. 2, a group of nine summer hikers, including two returning from “injured reserve,” drove a short distance south on Estrella Parkway to complete a 6-mile “C” hike in Estrella Foothills. This convenient park, adjacent to the Goodyear Estrella Foothills Community Park, has many trails that can be combined in a variety of ways to customize for distance and elevation gain. Join the club and enjoy amazing Arizona scenery and terrain since the club hikes in many interesting areas around the valley all year round.
