PC Hikers hit the beach
Lynn Warren
What better way to end summer exploratory hiking than to head for the beach. On September 17, five PebbleCreek hikers finished a hot nine mile hike through the Morgan City Wash area by taking a break on the rocky shore of Lake Pleasant. While not exactly the ocean, Lake Pleasant was a scenic stand-in and provided a welcome break from the woods and underbrush of the wash. In addition, on part of the hike, the hikers were treated to close up views of some very healthy looking wild burros (adults and babies). The hiking club enjoys local hikes all around the valley to areas such as Lake Pleasant, as well as overnight trips to more distant areas. The club meets in the Tuscany Ballroom on the third Thursday throughout the hiking season; visit the club’s website at PCHikers.org for more information and pictures.
Hiking Club goes to Prescott
Pete Williams
On September 30, seven members of the PebbleCreek Hiking Club did a hike on the Watson Lake Loop Trail in the Granite Dells in Prescott. The granite rock formations in this area are outstanding. Pictured left to right are Lynn Warren (photographer), Pete Williams, Dana Thomas (hike leader), Linda Vaughn, Roger Sanders, Kay Thomas and Holly Birnel. The club does hikes five days a week at three hike levels (D – about four miles, C – five to seven miles, and B – eight plus miles). We hike as close as Verrado and as far away as Prescott and Sedona. Club meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. For more information about the club please visit our website at pchikers.org.

Pictured are member Doug Jamiolkowski, Joe Clarkson, Wayne Wills, Sean Reid, member Susan Rudoy, Holly Birnel, Maryanne Pankov, Ivan Pankov and Dennis Zigmunt. Pete Williams was the hike leader and photographer. The Introductory hike is a four plus mile hike in the desert designed to demonstrate the various trail conditions we encounter on hikes as well as introduce hikers to the plants and animals in the desert. For more photos and information about the club please check out our website at pchikers.org. For more details about the requirements for joining the club, please email our Introductory Hike Coordinator at [email protected].
