Eighteen hikers from the PebbleCreek Hiking Club did a loop hike in nearby Estrella Mountain Regional Park on February 9. It was a great day to enjoy the outdoors and the hikers saw the beginning of spring as wildflowers were starting to bloom. Hikers that day included: Patti Schuldt, Dave Schuldt, Jean Mignone, Wayne Wills, Ron Hoffman (hike leader), Tom Wellman, Mary Barry, Cathy Wills, Diana Bedwell, Jane Sweet, Kristine Hanlon, Jeanette Wellman, Debbie Barbe, Joan Fafoglia, Art Solorio, Carol Sanders and Hal King. Doug Jamiolkowski was the photographer. The club does hikes at three levels – four to five miles (D level), five to eight miles (C level) and nine plus miles (B level). Check out our website at pchikers.org for more pictures and information about the club.

On January 30, ten members of the PebbleCreek Hiking Club did a hike in a Joshua Tree forest about 30 minutes north of Wickenburg. There are lots of very large Joshua Trees in this area. In addition, it is one of the few places where Joshua Trees and Saguaros live side by side (notice the little Saguaro in the gap between the hikers). This is very unusual as Joshua Trees live in the Mojave Desert and Saguaros live in the Sonoran Desert. It just happens that the two deserts come together in this area. Pictured (left to right) are Charlene, Ron, Joe, Dennis, Mark, Nancy, Tom, Jan and Steve. Pete was hike leader and photographer. The club hikes every weekday at various levels and while most hikes are in the valley, we do day hikes as far as Sedona and Prescott.
