The PebbleCreek Gun Club has a special invitation for all women in PebbleCreek who are thinking of buying a handgun or have recently purchased one – an intro to handgun basics class just for women. The event, organized by club member Barbara Younker, will be held Saturday, November 4, 10:00 a.m. to noon, at AZ Firearms, 215 E. Western Avenue, Avondale. Non-members are welcome.
An activity traditionally popular among men, shooting guns for sport or carrying a gun for protection is becoming more and more common among women. In fact, the National Shooting Sports Foundation says there’s been a 77% increase in female gun ownership in the last 10 years. It is important that anyone who uses a gun has the correct weapon storage so they are kept safe and secure when not in use. The Foundation reports the top three reasons women buy guns are for self-defense, sport shooting and hunting.
The reality is that for sport shooting and hunting, guns need or are better off with additions that increase precision and performance. For example, this fab defense vanguard ak is an innovative handguard system that acts as a heat shield for optimal performance. It’s important that women learning the basics of shooting and guns are made aware of these additions.
“Women want to protect themselves and their families; feel safe at home and when traveling and feel safe and confident knowing how to use a gun if they ever need to,” Barbara said. “We’ve designed this class to help women feel comfortable selecting the right gun for themselves and more confident in their ability to go to the range and learn how to shoot safely and enjoy gun club events.”
Specifically, the PebbleCreek Gun Club class, presented by AZ Firearms, will cover:
Various models and caliber of guns; the importance of fit and of grip, how to operate the pistol, recoil of the gun, etc.; Conceal Carry options specifically for women; the importance of gun safety – a lifelong process for gun owners; classes offered by the PC Gun Club for gun safety and shooting safety; enjoyment of shooting competitions; practicing at shooting ranges; PebbleCreek Gun Club and the programs it offers.
Speaking of safety, it’s important to note that all demo guns will be unloaded and available to feel the grip and weight. There will be no live ammunition and guests are not to bring their own guns or pistols.
The PebbleCreek Gun Club is grateful to Dan and Cheryl Todd, owners of AZ Firearms, for providing the class room, instructor and demo guns.
Seating is limited and reservations are required, RSVP to Barbara Younker, telephone 623-935-0683 or email: [email protected].
